The included factory letter states that this marvelous model 1873 Carbine in 44-40 was factory nickel plated.. Most of the nickel remains and the owners name E. Brauer is deeply engraved in the left receiver. According to the factory letter (which is included) it was received in the warehouse May 1 1886 and whipped on April 22, 1887. Serial Number 204877
